– $110952 Department: Language Services Reports To: Director of Language Services and Cultural Equity FLSA Status: Exempt Date Prepared: February 2021 PURPOSE OF JOB: To provide daily administrative oversight of the KCPS Welcome Center K-6 programming, which provides intensive ELD, academic and behavioral supports to newly arriving refugee and immigrant families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership and Management * Demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

* Demonstrate effective supervisory skills.

* Establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with parents, students and staff.

* Maintain effective, appropriate communication with the Director of Language Services and Cultural Equity (LSCE) * Support the hiring, coaching and/or discipline of Center staff * Collaborate with LSCE, teaching staff and home schools to identify students and ensure appropriate placement and transition procedures * Advise and assist teachers with classroom management and resolution of interpersonal relations conflicts between student/student and teacher/student.

* Provide leadership in developing a positive school climate and harmonious multicultural, multiethnic educational environment.

* Observe and monitor implementation of curriculum and best practices through regular walkthroughs, observations, coaching and evaluation.

* Monitor teacher effectiveness through observations, team meetings and facilitate the formal evaluation process in accordance with HR policy and procedure Professional Development/Curriculum * Serve as instructional leader through leading PLCs, faculty meetings, etc.

* Lead development of curriculum units and assessments * Provide staff development activities designed to assist staff in accomplishing program objectives.

* Monitor curriculum and instruction to identify needed improvements to progress toward stated goals and objectives.

Program Implementation * Maintain student and staff safety protocols.

* Develop daily program schedule.

* Partner with LSCE, district departments and community partners to identify and implement interventions and behavior plans * Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: YES MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree Current Missouri ESOL certification Hold or be eligible for Missouri Certification in elementary teaching Hold or be eligible for Missouri Certification in elementary school administration Three to five (5) years of teaching experience or related teaching experiences applicable to this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in remediation of student adjustment and discipline needs for English language learners Knowledgeable of conflict resolution models Knowledgeable and experienced in curriculum planning and effective instructional practices for SLIFE, refugee and immigrant students PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
