– Joplin, MOJob ShiftAnyDescriptionRed Collar Pet Foods is looking for a Process Operator to join our exciting new pet food business at our Joplin, MO manufacturing plant.

The primary responsibility for this position is to perform all functions associated with the manufacturing roles including but not limited to Inbound Bulk Unloading, Milling, Meat slurry and or Mixing.

Extrusion Operator responsibilities are not included in this role.Principal AccountabilitiesInbound duties:Unloading trucks and rail cars, obtaining ingredient samples, obtain bin measurements, ability to operate Forklift (expert level), JDE, BOL responsibility /accountability, understands production schedules, production computer systems, work instructions and production inventoriesCommunicate with to ensure materials are replenished in a timely manner, manage FIFO program in regard to materials management, load super sacks and micros in dries rooms, cross training will be requiredMill and Mixing Rooms:Schedule and batch commodities and/or meat slurry into accurate batches of mixed meal delivered through the hammer mill mixing and screening systemsParticipate in setting strategy for the processing system to ensure meeting or exceeding production schedule in the most efficient manner possiblePerform preventative and downtime maintenance of area equipment and help make incremental improvementsAssist maintenance/engineering to improve or upgrade current systems/equipmentProvide input on new projectsDevelop and maintain proficiency in inventory management systems and other business systems as needed to ensure accurate reportingPrepare and maintain SOP’s and training modulesDemonstrate the ability to accurately perform quality checks and complete documentation without errorMaintain a safe and clean work areaPromote high quality team environment through teamwork and self-managementPerforms all assigned activities and job tasks within a line or areaTakes corrective actions in solving problems to root cause levelAssess equipment operating reliability and perform routine repairs, adjustments and malfunction troubleshootingPerforms and/or works with Maintenance to complete equipment preventive maintenanceMaintains accurate records of QC checks, production numbers or waste performanceInventory movements in JDEPerforms all shift support documentation in a quality matterPerforms QC tasks such as metal checks, inspection of date codes, item numbers, dump logs, etc.Demonstrates high degree of ownership for product qualityPerforms all standard quality checks & other quality related dutiesUnderstands production schedules, production computer systems, work instructions and production inventoriesMeat Room:Responsible for operating equipment to add slurry to extrusion processParticipate in setting strategy for the processing system to ensure meeting or exceeding production schedule in the most efficient manner possiblePerform preventative tasks and/or work with maintenance to complete equipment preventative maintenance, routine repairs, adjustments and malfunction troubleshootingAssist maintenance and engineering to improve and upgrade current systems and equipment and provide input on new projectsDevelop and maintain proficiency in inventory management systems and other business systems as needed to ensure accurate reportingPrepare and maintain SOP’s and training modulesMust accurately perform quality checks and complete all documentation without errorInventory movements in JDEOther Duties as assigned by the line managerKey Functional Skills/KnowledgeFood manufacturing experience and knowledge of food safety, Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and statistical Process ControlTeam player, Action oriented, Problem solving abilities, Strong communication skills, Continuous self-developmentMust be capable of working at elevated heights and or confined spaceWearing proper personal protective equipment ( bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform)Bending, stooping, twist, turn, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 55 lbs.Must be able to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust dirt and chemicalsKnowledge of local, federal, and industry regulations with regards to: Food Safety (GMP, HACCP), Food Quality (Product and Process)Q testing practices and procedures, QMP polices and SPCForklift assignments require OSHA certification and getting on and off frequentlyMinimum Qualifications:Be 18 years of age or olderHave a High school diploma, GED or equivalent educationMust be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedulesAbility to understand and effectively communicate in the English languageWorking knowledge of Safety, Quality and Material Management Systems and proceduresAbility to read and understand the daily production run schedule, and execute to that planAbility to communicate to managers and team members any production, quality/food safety or other business critical information vital to operations and customer serviceAbility to operate a forklift/OSHA certification and able to work with minimal supervisionPreferred Qualifications:3+ years of manufacturing experience operating a variety of machines2 years of work experience within manufacturing, or a technical and/or trade disciplineWorking Knowledge of food safety, GMP, GHOP, HACCP, SPCDemonstrated competency in computer and pc software including MS Office and emailKnowledge of inventory
